ABSTRACT
Surface
hardening at medium carbon steel type disk brake using plasma nitrocarburizing
at temperature (700-900)°C has done with holding time 240
minute. The surface of Medium carbon steel
was coated with nitrogen and carbon atoms and diffused in disc brake material in order to produce hard layer
and worn down proof, to know matrix compiler accretion in that material, and
also to measure plasma nitrocarburizing layer deepness. Deepness that produced
by plasma nitrocarburizing layer at temperature 700°C, 800°C,and 900°C
those are 0,00mm , 0,012mm and, 0,32mm. Plasma nitrocarburizing at temperature
700°C
or more can effect matriks compiler of medium carbon steel accretion which is
in the first (room temperature) two matriks and in the last become three
matriks, whereas the hardness values
that is effected by plasma nitrocarburizing at temperature 700°C
, 800°C
and 900°C
successively those are 210,20 Kgf/mm²,220,58 Kgf/mm² and 766,11 Kgf/mm².
This case has showed that hardness value will increase along with temperature
increasing at plasma nitrocarburizing process.
